Frequently Asked Questions

What is AmeriPlanUSA Dental Care?

Ameriplan Dental Care is a dental referral organization that offers memberships in its discount dental plan. Members can save 25% to 65% on all restorative and cosmetic work (fillings, crowns, braces, etc.) and up to 80% on preventative work (teeth cleaning, x-rays, etc.) performed by a general dentist. Specialist’s fees are discounted 25%.

I’ve never heard of Ameriplan before. How long have you been in business?

Ameriplan is a privately held corporation with headquarters in Dallas, Texas, and was established in 1992. Because of word-of-mouth advertising from our valued customers, independent brokers and insurance agents we have achieved rapid growth.

Ameriplan is a member of the:

- Better Business Bureau of Dallas
- United States Chamber of Commerce
- Texas Retailer’s Association
- American Academy of Group Dental Practices
- National Association of Dental Plans
- National Association of Provider Access Organizations

Is Ameriplan insurance?

Ameriplan is not insurance or a health care organization. Unlike expensive insurance, Ameriplan offers immediate access to our dental providers. All pre-existing conditions are covered except orthodontic treatment in progress. There are also no limits on visits or services and Ameriplan includes vision, prescription drug and chiropractic plan benefits at no extra charge. There are also no claims to file by the member or dental office.

How do I pay my membership fee?

Ameriplan’s low membership fee is directly tied to bank and accounting efficiency. These low monthly or quarterly payments are made ONLY by electronic bank draft (checking or savings account) or by debit or credit card. If you do not have the ability to secure a bank account, your membership may be made by paying annually (one year in advance). The individual membership rate is $11.95 a month, and a family membership is $19.95 a month.

I recently re-married. Can I include my new spouse and his/her children on my household plan?

Yes. A Household membership is defined as anyone living within your physical residence including children, parents, and relatives, significant others, and all permanent residents of the household.

Who are the dental, pharmacy, vision, and chiropractic care providers?

Ameriplan Dental Care has assembled one of the largest networks of dental providers in the nation, and we are continually adding to this base. These dentists are well established, with successful dental practices. Our Prescription Drug Card may be used at more than 50,000 pharmacies nationwide, as well as through mail order. The Vision Care benefits are available nationwide at more than 12,000 locations, and our Chiropractic benefits may be used with more than 7,000 credentialed chiropractors.

Are your dental providers professionally licensed and insured?

Yes! Ameriplan is the largest nationwide Provider Access Organization (PAO) owned and managed by one company. All of our dental providers are credentialed to National Council on Quality Assurance (NCQA) standards.

I have a friend that could use your service. Can I refer them to you?

Yes! We love referrals! Happy and satisfied customers telling others have built our entire business. Simply refer your friends to view this information, or contact your Ameriplan representative.

Is your plan available for groups?

Ameriplan offers the same great pricing for groups, small businesses and large corporations. Contact your Ameriplan representative for more exciting details.

How do I use the plan?

Within 10 to 14 working days of receipt of your application in Dallas, you will receive:
- Member Information Guide
- Membership Identification Cards
- Provider Directory
Simply select a provider and call to set an appointment. Remember to identify yourself as an Ameriplan patient with your assigned ID number (printed on your ID card). On the day of your visit present your ID Card to any Ameriplan provider and pay the reduced fee . . . that’s it! No claim forms to file, no headaches or hassles!

This sounds too good to be true. Explain to me why a dentist would be willing to reduce his fee?

Sufficient cash flow is a critical balance to a successful dental practice.

A dentist is a medical doctor who has dedicated at least 8 to 10 years of his life, invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in education, materials, equipment, leasing professional office space, not to mention training his staff and paying their salaries.

Unlike the average American who is paid twice a month for working their jobs, a dentist in most cases does not get paid 45 to 120 days after an insurance claim is submitted to the appropriate insurance company. Even then he may not receive 100% of the submitted claim due to exclusions and adjustments by the insurance company.

Why is Ameriplan different and better?! We create immediate and positive cash flow for the dental practice by supplying cash-paying patients to them right now! There is no cost for a dentist to join as a dental provider, and no cost for the patients we refer into their offices! In addition our providers can receive additional discounts with our network of associated dental labs, dental supply firms, etc.

How soon can I use my plan?

We are now able to activate your membership the same day that you enroll. An ACTIVE card MUST be presented in order to receive vision, prescription or chiropractic discounts. (There’s nothing like the feeling of paying more for something than you had too.)

Please consider that it takes 10 to 14 days for your ID Cards to arrive . . . and since we’ve never met a psychic that can predict a toothache, we highly encourage you to enroll today!

Do I need to list my Social Security Number to enroll as a member?

No. You may use any NINE-digit number that you would like (and can remember if asked to verify your account by a provider).

Do I have to use an AmeriPlan dentist?

Yes, just as you would with other plans  with one significant difference. The vast majority of our providers have teamed up with AmeriPlan due to being referred from their own patients or other providers. What this means is that people love and respect our doctors, and we’re confident that you will too.

I called my pharmacy to see if they accept AmeriPlan, and they weren’t sure. What can I do?

Once you receive your Membership ID Card, take it physically to your pharmacy and point out the Prescription Drug logo that appears on the card. Pharmacies across the nation recognize this as one of the largest pharmacy network companies in the country and you’ll find that most honor the plan.

A special 1-800 number is included in your membership kit to refer your favorite pharmacy, dentist, vision center and chiropractor.

Can I use AmeriPlan with my existing dental insurance plan?

Yes, AmeriPlan can work as a supplement to a fully insured plan. The fully insured plan is always considered the primary coverage that the dentist will use in calculating the member’s AmeriPlan is not covered at 100% of the member’s fully insured dental plan, the remaining balance will not be greater than the negotiated AmeriPlan fee.
- AmeriPlan may be used as the primary benefit only if the procedure performed is not covered under the fully insured dental plan.

AmeriPlan does not work with a managed care plan (HMO/PPO), as they are discounted fee-for-service plans also.
